Anti-corruption agency nabs businessman for allegedly attempting to bribe officials with K60,000 in Lusaka

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a Lusaka businessman for allegedly engaging in corrupt practices involving K60,000.

Henry Kasolo, 54, of Plot 400V, off Leopards Hill Road in Lusaka District, was arrested and charged with Corrupt Practices contrary to Section 19(2) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.

ACC Acting Head of Corporate Communications, Chilufya Chisanga, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Lusaka on Saturday.

“Particulars of the offence were that between 26th June, 2025 and 27th June, 2025, in Lusaka District, Kasolo, a businessman, did corruptly offer and give K60,000 gratification to three public officers of the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC),” Chisanga said.

She stated that the money was offered “as an inducement or reward to facilitate the release of two Thai nationals that had been apprehended by DEC officers and their seized compressed cannabis.”

Chisanga added that the Commission commended the three DEC officers for upholding integrity and reporting the matter to the ACC.
